Cutlers with a spike tombstone. Some sloppiness, especially from Malachi, but a very fun opener. Ryan Taylor got "please come back" chants... I expect he will.

Scott/LTP up now.

Scott with the Big Fat Kill in about ten minutes. Got a little out of sync at the end, but real good, with Scott taking most of the offense and timing LTP's comebacks perfectly. A couple really brilliant spots here.

Omega gets a monster pop for heading to the announce table. It's clear who the crowd wants to take this thing.

Tornado/Matt up now.

Lots of cheating from Nick at ringside, as you might imagine. Fabulous spot of Matt doing the cabbage patch on Tornado to huge heat... Tornado no-sells the dick kick, pimp-slaps Matt and does his own version. Cartwheel flipping backrake by Matt gets even more heat... his calling Tornado "Kunta Kinte" gets what one might call the wrong kind of heat. Nick interferes and gets his fucking HEAD lariated off by RICK KNOX -- Tornado hits the DND to win it. Brilliant finish. Lots of blown spots here, but the character stuff made it work and then some. We're three for three.

Joey/Cabana up now.

Joey wins with a superkick. Tightest, smoothest match so far... lots of comedy and British matwork, all of which Joey ran with nicely. Both guys were faces to the crowd, so it was on the workers to create heat... they did it.

Nothing mind-blowing so far, but four good, fun, fairly quick matches... exactly what you want out of an undercard. Roddy/Goodtime is next.

Roddy with the Stronghold. Long, back-and-forth match, with Johnny getting in a surprising amount of offense. Well-wrestled with some great moments, but I think it would've gotten over even more if it'd been more one-sided... nobody believed Johnny could win, and Roddy clearly wasn't familiar with Johnny's offense, leading to some stilted moments. Thumbs-up overall, though, no question. PWG can do no wrong right now.

Intermission.

They're main eventing tonight with Aries/Kendrick, right?

The Excalibur/Alan4L/Naylor podcast sure made it sound like Generico/Shelley will be the main event. We'll see.

Nick/Gatson up now, meaning the three big first-round matches are the final three.

Gatson wins! Fun, tight, well-wrestled match. Easily the least heat of any match so far, but given that they were put in the deadly post-intermission and that neither gut is established in singles competition, they did real well. Good match.

Aries vs. Kendrick... NOW.

Heelapalooza. Dueling heel micwork, dueling hair-pulling, dueling missed knee drops, dueling low blows... you get the picture. Kendrick wins when he accidentally falls on top of Aries after being hit by the ROH belt. Aries and Kendrick then head to the bar, where Kendrick gets a beer and Aries gets WHITE WINE. Match was hurt by some stupid "boring" chants, but a jolly good show. The best all-around performer so far has been Aries by a country mile.

Omega/Steen now... both are monstrously over.

Steen on the mic... punks a drunk idiot in style, puts Omega over. Steen really is stellar on the mic. Omega responds in bizarre, Bosherrific fashion. Steen does some great Bosh material, speaking of which. Long, weird, bad, great mic segment.

Steen uses his fat to get the early advantage... Kenny fights back, but eats a nasty powerbomb onto the ring apron. Omeg gets beat on a for awhile, but hits a desperation dragon suplex that leads to a red-hot comeback... until Steen DDTs the living shit out of him. Kenny bites his way back into control, but Steen smacks him back down in short order. Package piledriver by Steen... OMEGA REVERSES THE PIN FOR THREE! All the matches have been fun, but this was the first one that really meant something. Steen made Omega tonight, once and for all. Great performance by both guys, and MOTN for sure, if you ask me.

Generico/Shelley to end the show.

This was a straight-up workrate indy match -- no underlying issue, no real match story, no real face, no real heel. Three and a half hours into a spot-filled show, you have to be really damn good to get a match like that over. Luckily, these guys are pretty damn good and then some. Shelley wins a fucking fantastic match... that's all you need to know.

Very good show. No big surprises... Shelley over Generico was the closest thing to an upset, really. The only guy to get a real rub tonight was Omega, but you could argue his won would've meant less if other lower-ranked guys haf also gotten meaningful wins. There were 20-30 empty seats on the night, which strikes me as 100% due to a shit economy... obviously if you're gonna go to one night, Night Two is the play. PWG could maybe have filled the place tonight with a couple more big names, but the expense wouldn't have been worth it. Just the way it goes, really.

Really good stuff, and I'm bummed I can't make it tomorrow. What the fuck do I know, but it tomorrow (especially since it's looking like a Steenerico/Colt/LTP vs. Bucks/Aries/Goodtime eight-man -- holy fucking shit, that will own). No idea who's gonna take this thing, bit based on the crowd, Omega sure seems like the play.

Wow, Shelley going over surprises me and that was the one match I wasn't 100% sure on. But that's good stuff all around. Part of me wonders if Sabin pulling out caused a change there. Either way, Omega/Lost is going to be HUGE tomorrow, especially if Omega was as over as you say.

Thanks so much onlxn for the live results. Kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for the results. Tomorrow's show sounds like it's going to be ridiculously awesome.

Second-round matches:

Kenny Omega vs. Scott Lost
Brandon Gatson vs. Alex Shelley
Brian Kendrick vs. Joey Ryan
Roderick Strong vs. Human Tornado

I think it's either Omega over Roddy or Kendrick over Omega in the final. Omega is cemented a star by taking three huge scalps in Steen, Scott and Shelley. You then either complete his ascension with one more huge win over Roddy, or you drag out the chase by having Kendrick screw him out of it. Either way, Omega/ Shelley and a Roddy/Kendrick rematch seem like locks for the semis, and it's pretty damn hard to complain about that.

Shelley/Generico is MOTN without question. The perfect way to end the night and a big deal finish considering I thought Generico would make it to at least the semi-finals. Roddy against Goodtime was a possible show stealer in my mind and it almost did just that. For real, Roddy is the most brutal worker on the roster. I would love to see him win the strap just because it would mean barn burner main events at every show. Again he had the crazy spots outside the ring in the stands. Someone is going to get hurt wrestling this dude.

Overall it was a fun show. Nothing mind blowing but all the tourny matches were nice. The spot with Gatson working over Jackson with the 'thinking of you' balloon was sweet. Only in PWG. I do wish Steen would have made it to round two but, more than anything else, I'm glad Colt lost. The second round should be free of comedy. Let these dudes just go nuts in the ring. Too bad Omega refuses to leave the jokes at the door.

Oh yeah. Kendrick yelling at that fan during the pre-show photo-op was pretty nuts. I thought he was going to punch that guy for basically nothing.

I love PWG.

I know it'd be against tradition, but I think I'd prefer the eight man tag to be broken up into two matches. Do Aries v. LTP v. Goodtime v. Cabana after the quarterfinals and Steenerico v. Young Bucks after the semis. I'm sure they'll just go ahead with the regular eight man and I'm sure it will be fun. But a guy can dream.

real fun show, sucks I can't make it for tonight's show though

also something to point out, if it hasn't been pointed out yet, Britta from Community was at the show last night

as for the loser match on night 2, personally I hope Young Bucks defend the tag titles against not only Steenerico but as well against tag teams consisting of Aries, LTP, Cabana, and Goodtime, maybe have LTP team with Cabana while Goodtime teams with Aries
