On Sunday, March 22, Steve Doll was taken off life support and later pronounced dead. He was 44.

Doll was a popular mainstay in the Pacific Northwest Wrestling promotion from 1987 to 1992. He would win the their Heavyweight Championship on four occasions and the Tag Team titles eighteen times. Among the times he held the tag team belts were with Scott Peterson, forming a popular duo known as The Southern Rockers. After Peterson left the business in 1989, he would be replaced by Rex King (Mark Smith).

Doll and King would join the World Wrestling Federation in 1993 as the tag team Well Dunn managed by Harvey Wippleman. King was Timothy Well, Doll was Steven Dunn. They were used primarily as an undercard team, but did have a minor feud with The Bushwhackers on numerous episodes of Monday Night Raw.

After leaving the WWF, Doll would hop around from promotion to promotion. Doll wrestled on a particular episode of WCW Monday Nitro on May 27, 1996 as it was during his match with Mike Enos that Scott Hall made his debut in the promotion. Doll would wrestle against as Steven Dunn in United States Wrestling Association and was the last to hold their Southern Heavyweight Championship before the promotion folded.

Doll suffered a seizure that was related to an intestinal blockage and was hospitalized in 2007. He underwent surgery and had been on life support until now.

I have a vague recollection of Steve Dunn and the team Well Dunn. I can't believe Abismo Negro is dead. This sucks, we're not even past the first quarter of 09 and we've already lost three wrestlers.

It wouldn't be the first time foul play has happened to a wrestler. Still sad though.
