Contrast in styles ROH and PWG

Postby crazyfelix » Sun Jun 11, 2006 12:13 pm

Ok so I haven't seen a PWG show before, but I'm thinking about picking one up. Can anyone tell me what should I expect. My initial thought is that PWG is like an ROH to the west coast (not an insult) if I am wrong please don't flame, just tell me wghat the contrast in styles are. I know guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Frankie Kazarian competed in PWG, but how do their ROH matches differ from their PWG matches.

The best possible explanation I can offer is a lucha-influenced ground-style partial-comedy fed based around SoCal talent with a handful of fly-ins.

You'll be pretty happy with PWG.

I suggest

Tango & Cash Invitational
88 Miles Per Hour
Reason For The Season
All Star Weekend 1
2nd Anniversary Bicentennial Extravaganza
The Battle Of Los Angeles
Astonishing X-Mas

These are typically the most popular & oft mentioned suggestions for newcomers.

THE PWG website is pretty good, you can order it off here. Also, http://www.highspots.com sells them, but in my few experiences with them the delivery has taken ages, they overprice on shipping cost, 1 of my PWG dvd's had the disc out of the holding-bind inside and another was absolutely scratched to hell.

But, alot of people like using highspots so maybe they are just cock-wads to good looking fellas like myself. Oh, and highspots has a good PWG DVD on right now (4 dvd's for $35, bargain!)

well i heard RFVideo is in trouble for sending bootleg dvds to people who ordered real dvds, also with the knowledge of Rob Feinstein (dunno if the incident was true or not) but it sounds like I should go with PWG's site, but how are they with shipping and people living on the east coast.

I have used Highspots on numerous occasions and they always have been good with my stuff. 2-3 days and no problems with the discs.

PWG wrestlers use piledrivers, so obviously this "lucha influence" you people talk about doesn't exist.

I use high spots more since its closer so me than PWG. I also live in Ohio. Highspots is good and if a problem arises they will be quick to fix it after you email them.

I've had bad luck with pwg dirctly. They don't reply to email's

Ironic as it is, most of the PWG wrestlers don't even like lucha.
