2011 Death Thread

Postby El Asian » Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:08 pm

might as well start a new one and these 2 upset me as a comic book fan and a Doctor Who fan with the passing of creator of Static (plus the show based on the hero, Static Shock) and wrote many episodes for Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and for Doctor Who fans, Nicholas Courtney, one of the long running and fan-favorite recurring ally, The Brigadier, passed as well

Sir Oliver Humperdink Dead At 62

It is my unfortunate responsibility to report that legendary WWE manager Sir Oliver Humperdink has died. According to friends, Humperdink died last night at the age of 62.

As we reported earlier this month, Humperdink was terminally ill with cancer and not healthy enough for treatment. He was in hospice care.

Via Chris Hero on twitter;

We lost a dedicated friend and an overwhelmingly talented performer this morning. Alex Whybrow aka "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeney has passed. We spent a few yrs together on the road & Alex was gifted beyond measure. He could enthrall you with colorful stories from his personal life or he could captivate thousands with his undeniable charisma. I loved him & my heart is with his family, friends & his countless fans. First he was my student & he transcended that almost immediately. I will forever cherish our in depth conversations & time spent. Love you man. Miss you. Rest in Peace.

They haven't announced cause of death yet, but everyone is fearful that he may have committed suicide. I hope not. Not for someone as lively and vibrant as he was.

Rest in peace, Larry. We're gonna miss you.

Depressing news to say the very least. I can't even think of what to say... the guy was a one of a kind talent.

Our worst fears came true. He did commit suicide. Made worse is that he was found to have hung himself in a wrestling school in Lake Charles, LA. This is absolutely horrible.

I don't really know these guys' work much, other than Chip. But, looks like we've got 3 in wrestling in two days.

Brett Keen, who wrestled in the Ohio and Kentucky area as Chip Fairway, passed away in his sleep on 4/9 at the age of 38. Keen, who was originally trained by Les Thatcher, was a regular for both the HWA and IWA Mid-South and was a hell of a hand. He hadn’t wrestled in a number of years and floated away from the business in order to devote his full attention to raising his children.

Frank Morin, who wrestled as Stinky the Homeless Guy, in the Montreal area passed away on 4/1 due to complications from cancer. He was only 23 years old. Morin had wrestled for a number of the local independents, including C*4 and ISW. Slam! Wrestling featured a piece on his life and passing, which you can read by clicking here.

That is awful. You could tell he had some problems in the way the end of his ROH tenure went down, and his public issues, but this is a whole new level of horrible.

RIP to all the greats who have passed away when 2011 is still so young.

Besides the wrestlers, I will say Nate Dogg passing away was a huge shocker. I was a huge fan. I hope he regulates at heaven's gates.

This is the one that has seemed to have hit the wrestling community the hardest. I will always believe in the Madness. Man I'm completely gutted by this news when I heard it this morning.

Such sad news, I think a lot of the wrestling community is feeling gutted right now with the passing of the Macho King. I'm sure anyone who grew up in 80's and watched wrestling tried to do the "Ohhhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhh" and do elbow drops from their couch or bed or somewhere. a true legend of the ring left us
