I'm surprised he was let in the building. Before we were let in, 4 of the guys that work for PWG came up to him and accused him of stealing a mallet at the end of the last show. Dude didn't know what a mallet was, so they told him it's like a hammer. He first denied ever seeing the mallet. Then they told him that they had him on tape holding it. He then said that the guy sitting next to him grabbed it and was holding it and that he never touched it. When they asked him who the guy next to him was, he got really defensive and said he had no idea who the guy was.
They continued to push the issue, and he then admitted to holding the mallet. He then got really defensive and demanded to see video proof of him walking out the door with it. Having worked retail in the past and dealing with lying thieves first hand, I've become pretty good at spotting liars. Dude was completely full of shit. Can't believe he had the balls to go in, and on top of that attempt to make himself the center of attention during several matches.
Besides that idiot, night 1 was awesome. Not a bad match on the card. Random thoughts:
The place was crowded, but not anywhere near the fire hazard level crowd for the last show.
Another report said that Excalibur had a bum ankle. That was wrong. He was on crutches because he said he recently had knee surgery.
Joey and TJ had a good opening match.
Roderick and Drake beat the crap out of each other. Some of the loudest slaps of the night. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
After the bell rang to start the O'Rielly and Edwards match, someone in the crowd screamed, "O'Rielly steals money from promoters". This was immediately met with boos from nearly the entire crowd.
Glad to see Cage make it to round 2. Based on tonight's outcomes, I see him winning the trophy tomorrow night.
Ricochet and Steen had a great match. Cage running interference near the end caused Steen to be distracted enough to slip up and get caught. I like how the Steen and Cage rivalry is building up.
The crowd was in complete shock seeing Mack lose in the first round. I sure didn't see that one coming. It was a hell of a match though. Extremely physical. It made the Roderick and Drake match look like a sparring bout.
Adam Cole was full on heel tonight. Second biggest upset behind the previous match.
Elgin vs Davey was awesome. Contrary to another report I saw online, the crowd reaction wasn't that mixed. From where I was sitting, the vast majority of the crowd was behind Davey. As soon as the match ended, one moron screamed, "Too long of a match" and was then boo'd by the crowd.
All in all, I'm very excited for tomorrow night.
